For the church to return with Jesus we must be taken up by then which follows the sequence of us not being on Earth during God's wrath.
When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
Colossians 3:4
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 4:14
Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints..."
Jude 1:14
Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.
Revelation 1:7
To be fair, the last verse says He is coming with the clouds but we don't know for sure if these are clouds of believers or plain ol' clouds. The word in the Greek is for those fluffy white things. It is only tradition that says these may be believers.
